Vast area with forest and heathland
The house is located in a rural area just outside Heerde. Within walking distance of the ZwolseBos forest and the Tonnenberg heathland, where you can enjoy walking, cycling, mountain biking or running. The Zwolse Bos is directly connected to the rest of the Veluwe, with areas such as the Renderklippen near Epe, the Wezepse Heide or the Crown Estates near Gortel and Vierhouten.
River landscape
Also very close by is the IJssel river basin with its picturesque landscapes. With picturesque villages such as Vorchten and Veessen, beautiful views and the impressive waterworks of the Hoogwatergeul (our own “delta works”), this area is definitely worth exploring.
Cycling and walking
The extensive cycling junction network takes you through the varied landscapes of the surrounding area. Highly recommended is a cycling tour via Veessen, Wijhe, Herxen, Windesheim and Hattem via the bicycle ferries over the IJssel and winding through the forest back to Heerde. The so-called “Pontjes tour”.
Heerderstrand
In warm weather it is wonderful to take a refreshing dip in the water of the nearby Heerderstrand. A recreational lake with sandy beaches within walking and cycling distance of the house. But you can also park there by car.
“Klompenpaden”
Hikers can join the Vosbergenpad a stone’s throw away on the heath: one of the many Klompenpaden (walkingpaths) in the area. These are marked hiking trails of varying length through cultural and natural landscapes. The Vosbergenpad leads through the rural areas of Heerde, Hoorn and Wapenveld. There are also the Horsthoekerpad, the Wiseperpad and Markluidenpad. For more information, see the website www.klompenpaden.nl. An app is also available.
Cities and Places of Interest
The house is a great base for a visit to nice Hanseatic cities such as Kampen, Hattem, Deventer and Zutphen. The cozy Zwolle is also worth a visit and offers numerous options for nice restaurants and cafés/wine bars. An evening of theater in ‘the Spiegel’ or music concert in Hedon can also be planned in no time. Zwolle is close by and offers sufficient parking options, but can also be easily reached from Heerde by public transport or by bicycle.
For a day of relaxation you can visit the nearby wellness resort De Veluwse Bron. A beautiful complex with various indoor and outdoor saunas, swimming pools and options for beauty treatments. To relax for a day or evening and return to the house relaxed afterwards.
The area also offers many interesting museums such as the Fundatie in Zwolle, and the Anton Pieck Museum and Voerman Museum in Hattem. But also, for example, Paleis ‘t Loo or the Apenheul in Apeldoorn, or Kröller Muller / Park de Hoge Veluwe in Otterlo are nearby for a day out.
